Railway Worker Detained for Planting Detonators on Tracks: Report
In a significant development, authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the detonator blast on a railway track in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The accused, identified as Sabir, an employee of the railways, allegedly planted 10 detonators on the track, reported a media.
Investigations are underway to determine whether the act was a prank or part of a more sinister plot. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Ministry of Railways are all probing the case.
The incident occurred on September 18 in the Sagfata area of the Nepanagar Assembly constituency. The explosion happened as an Army Special Train, traveling from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka, passed over the track. Thanks to the quick thinking of the loco pilot, who stopped the train and alerted the station master, a major disaster was averted.
Authorities have revealed that the 10 detonators found at the site were part of standard railway procedures. According to Dr. Swapnil Neela, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railways, these detonators are typically used to create loud noises in situations like fog or emergency stops. However, their placement in this specific instance raised suspicion as there was no valid reason for them to be there. The investigation continues with the involvement of top agencies, given the sensitive nature of the case involving an army train.
The presence of detonators has raised questions, and while they do not cause damage to trains or tracks, the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness due to the potential risks involved.
